Legal Panel Performance Manager

Job Introduction

We are seeking a commercially astute and analytically driven Legal Panel Performance Manager to lead the operational performance management of our global legal panel. This role is central to ensuring that our external legal partners consistently deliver high-quality, cost-effective services that support claims handling excellence and positive member outcomes.

 

You will take ownership of performance frameworks, using data, insight, and stakeholder engagement to drive accountability and continuous improvement across the legal panel. By developing meaningful metrics, dashboards and reporting, you will provide clear visibility of supplier performance and identify opportunities to optimise efficiency, reduce legal spend, and enhance service delivery.

 

Working across a broad stakeholder network, both internally and externally, you will play a key role in shaping how we manage and evolve our legal supply chain. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, embed best practices, and ensure that performance management aligns with organisational values, governance standards, and member expectations.


Job Responsibilities 

  • Lead the operational performance management of the legal panel, including ownership of governance cadence, supplier meetings, and performance frameworks 
  • Develop and maintain scorecards, dashboards, and KPIs to provide clear, data-driven insights into legal panel performance and outcomes 
  • Analyse trends, identify performance gaps, and work collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers to resolve issues and improve delivery 
  • Monitor and report on legal spend, conducting cost-benefit analysis and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external panel firms to ensure alignment with business objectives and service expectations 
  • Support the monitoring of third-party legal suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and performance requirements 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, using insight and analysis to enhance operational efficiency and member experience 
  • Identify, track, and escalate risks related to panel performance, data integrity, and supplier delivery, ensuring appropriate mitigation actions are taken

  

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Strong knowledge of the legal market, with experience gained within the legal sector or legal supply chain environment 
  • Proven experience managing external stakeholders at a global level, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build effective partnerships 
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a track record of using data and insight to drive performance improvements and business outcomes 
  • Highly effective communicator, able to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for a range of audiences 
  • Experience developing and managing performance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting dashboards 
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines 
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and experience ensuring data quality and integrity 
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) or a regulated/insurance environment (desirable)
