Senior PMO Analyst

Job Introduction

The purpose of this role is to assist the PMO Manager in shaping and embedding Programme and Project Governance principles across the MPS change portfolio.

The role will include a strong focus on portfolio, programmes and project planning and process automation and there will also be a requirement to support the Project Managers with a wide variety of initiatives.

Role Responsibility

This is a great opportunity to join MPS on a 12 month FTC to support our busy project team and also to make an significant impact on the function by leading on planning and process automation. The successful candidate will be required:

• To lead portfolio, programme and project planning including support, set-up, maintenance and quality assurance.

• To lead a review of reporting mechanisms currently in place and assess opportunities for continuous improvement and/or automation.

• To build and maintain strong relationships with the business, senior stakeholders and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of programmes/projects to agreed scope, time, cost and quality.

• To effectively champion and support programme/project governance standards/processes to ensure best practice is adopted to enable more efficient and effective delivery.

• To effectively work with the PMO Manager to report Portfolio performance against plan, budget and benefits.

• To effectively work with Project Manager(s) in the delivery of projects in accordance with the governance standards.

• Escalate as required any technical matters and/or seek advice using such opportunities to build confidence and competence in role.

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a candidate with solid PMO experience who can demonstrate planning and reporting experience. 

A background in a regulated environment would be an advantage, as would experience of PRINCE2 methodology and a waterfall and/or agile environment. Strong Excel skills will be a huge advantage, as will experience of working with Project Online. 

During the assessment process, amongst other things, we will be looking for:

• Previous PMO experience including portfolio reporting, analysis and producing inputs to senior level meetings

• Experience of programme / project co-ordination and planning including quality assurance

• Experience or exposure to the end to end project lifecycle, or managing substantial parts of the project lifecycle 

• Experience of working within a structured project management framework
