Partnerships Manager

Job Introduction

We are seeking an exceptional Partnerships Manager to shape and lead our strategic partnerships across the UK and Ireland medical and dental sectors. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role responsible for building meaningful, commercially robust relationships with royal colleges, professional bodies, training institutions, healthcare organisations and other influential stakeholders.

This is a strategic, relationship-led role that combines intellectual credibility with strong commercial acumen. You will engage confidently with senior clinicians, academics and executive leaders, representing the organisation at the highest levels and creating partnerships that enhance our member proposition, support acquisition and retention, and deliver measurable return on investment.

With significant autonomy, you will define and implement a clear partnership strategy, embed best-practice governance and review processes, and lead the ongoing development of partnership activity. It is a particularly exciting time to join the organisation as we continue to take an increasingly outward-looking, growth-oriented approach, with strong ambition to expand our reach, influence and impact across the sectors we serve.

Role Responsibility

  • Develop and deliver a clear, commercially robust partnerships strategy across the UK and Ireland medical and dental markets.
  • Identify, scope and secure high-value partnerships with professional bodies, royal colleges, associations, education providers and healthcare organisations.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for strategic partners, building trusted, executive-level relationships and ensuring delivery to agreed objectives, timelines and budgets.
  • Create compelling business cases for new partnership initiatives, clearly articulating member value, commercial benefit and return on investment.
  • Review and optimise existing partnerships, ensuring contracts, governance, income, data sharing and performance metrics are clearly documented and regularly evaluated.
  • Expand distribution routes and enhance the member proposition through additive, value-led partnerships rather than purely discount-driven arrangements.
  • Provide market and competitor insight to inform proposition development and member engagement strategies.
  • Represent the organisation at sector events, conferences and stakeholder forums, acting as an articulate and credible ambassador.
  • Line management for Business Development colleagues, setting objectives, driving performance, and supporting professional development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Brings presence and energy, enjoys being visible in the market, and is skilled at building trust quickly and creating high-quality opportunities.
  • Operates confidently at senior level and is comfortable engaging with highly technical clinicians, academics and executive leaders, communicating with clarity, credibility and authority.
  • Has successfully built and led strategic partnerships, ideally within healthcare, insurance, membership or professional services, and can demonstrate how those relationships delivered measurable commercial and member value.
  • Combines strong relationship skills with commercial acumen, with a solid understanding of contracts, ROI, budgets and performance metrics, using data to inform decisions and strengthen proposals.
  • Demonstrates strong negotiation and influencing capability while maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Has experience leading or managing others, setting clear objectives and driving performance while supporting professional development.
  • Is proactive, self-directed and comfortable working with autonomy, taking ownership and accountability for outcomes.

This role will suit an intelligent, credible and driven partnership leader who thrives on building meaningful relationships and delivering tangible impact. Someone who brings presence, energy and commercial instinct in equal measure - and who is motivated by shaping influential partnerships that strengthen our proposition, grow our membership and make a lasting difference across the medical and dental professions.

In return, we can offer you:

  • Discretionary on-target bonus of 10%. Up to a max 20% based on performance
  • 11% pension contribution (3% from you, 8% from us – optional additional matched 3% contributions, e.g. 6% from you, 11% from us)
  • 25 days annual leave. Flexible public holidays and option to buy/sell additional leave
  • Private Medical Cover
  • Car Salary Sacrifice scheme
  • Car Allowance
  • 6x salary death in service
  • Holistic health and wellbeing support package
  • A truly flexible hybrid-working arrangement
  • A culture that promotes inclusivity, wellbeing and rewards hard work

Who We Are

Medical Protection Society (MPS) is the world’s leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 Members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning our Members’ premiums are kept safe should our Members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice, or invested into bettering the organisation, our colleagues and our products.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit Members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully-funded training courses or peer-to-peer support. We want our colleagues to feel empowered enough to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and are determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring our Member’s best interests are at the core.
