Data Protection Co-ordinator

Job Introduction

Do you take pride in being organised, discreet, and thoughtful in how you communicate? Are you curious, reliable, and motivated by doing things properly? If you’re looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a meaningful and increasingly important area, the Data Protection Coordinator role at the Medical Protection Society (MPS) could be an excellent fit.

We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a proactive, can-do approach. You’ll be confident coordinating tasks, supporting processes, and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. While some knowledge of data protection is helpful, it’s not essential - what matters most is your willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow in the role. With training, guidance, and support, you’ll have the opportunity to build expertise and make a real contribution to MPS’s data protection work.

This role is advertised as part-time (30 hours). However, for the right person we would be happy to consider full-time hours, so we encourage you to get in touch.

We’re keen to progress this recruitment promptly and may close the role early if a suitable candidate is identified. Early applications are encouraged.

Role Responsibility

As a Data Protection Coordinator, you’ll support our Data Protection Officer (DPO) team in delivering a trusted, high-quality service that ensures we remain compliant with data protection regulations across the globe.

You’ll become an important point of contact across the organisation, helping us manage sensitive information, track key activities, and contribute to the success of our data protection and compliance function.

 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Helping respond to internal and external requests in a timely and professional manner; ensuring we meet key performance and service-level targets.
  • Supporting the smooth handling of data protection tasks such as data subject access requests (DSRs), breach reporting, assessments, and documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate data and records using MPS systems, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Organising digital files, folders, and communications in line with internal policy and data protection best practice.
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues across MPS to improve collaboration and efficiency.
  • Supporting the development of training materials and internal awareness campaigns.
  • Staying up to date on changes in data protection regulations and sharing insights or improvement ideas with the wider team.
  • Coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting decisions and action points.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when working with sensitive or confidential information
  • Confidence communicating with people across all levels of an organisation
  • Great attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of tasks
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills and concepts
  • Prior experience in a coordination, administration, or support role (any industry)

Package Description

Alongside a competitive salary, you will also receive:

  • Discretionary on-target bonus of 5%. Up to a max 10% based on performance
  • 11% pension contribution (3% from you, 8% from us – optional additional matched 3% contributions, e.g. 6% from you, 11% from us)
  • 25 days annual leave. Flexible public holidays and option to buy/sell additional leave if applicable
  • Private Medical Cover
  • Car Salary Sacrifice scheme (where applicable)
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • 6x salary death in service
  • Career development and progression opportunities
  • A truly flexible hybrid-working arrangement
  • A culture that promotes inclusivity, wellbeing and rewards hard work
  • A personal GP service enabling you to get a video consultation with a NHS-registered private GP
  • Employee Assistance Programme

About the Company

The Medical Protection Society Ltd (MPS) is the world’s leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning member’s subscriptions are either invested into bettering the organisation, colleagues and products, or kept safe should members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully funded training courses or peer-to-peer support. We want colleagues to feel empowered to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and be determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring members best interests are at the core.
