Job Introduction

This is an exciting time to join MPS as we look to improve and innovate our current methodologies.  Within this newly created role, as a Data Curator you will be responsible for managing and maintaining metadata from various sources (internal and external) to effectively unlock and maintain value of data over time. You will be at the heart of defining best practices for working with structured and unstructured data within our Commercial Services division.

Role Responsibility

• Collect, catalogue and manage metadata from internal and external sources to facilitate insight and analysis across the commercial services division
• Support the unstructured data project which looks to maximise the value of data locked away in text.
• Curate key medical malpractice ontologies such as claim cause and injury codes.
• Champion knowledge sharing within the division and wider company with a strong focus on improving consistency of understanding
• Assist the Data Preparation team with their change management process to ensure version control is maintained and communicated effectively.
• Seek and validate valuable external data sources by liaison with external suppliers ensuring that data quality is of the highest standard, or when not, score the credibility of the data with a view to revisiting or implementing cleansing programmes.
• Studying the use of metadata by other market participants.

The Ideal Candidate

The role would suit a Life Sciences or Computer Science graduate who is seeking an opportunity to grow within an evolving organisation.  Or you may be experienced in the use of SQL server with a strong analytical or change release background looking for a new opportunity.

• Ability to construct queries using SQL
• Experience in development and maintenance of ontologies
• Experience in development and maintenance of data dictionaries and catalogues
• Ability to utilise strong data management or data standards concepts for efficient data mapping and curation
• Keen analytical, project management and problem-solving skills
