Claims Assistant ( student placement)
Job Introduction
MPS have an opportunity for a Law student to gain some experience from a year in industry working within our claims team.
You will be working alongside one of our experienced Clinical Negligence lawyers, supporting on one of our high profile, high value, multi claimant cases. You will gain some fantastic experience in the complex and niche world of clinical negligence.
Role Responsibility
- To manage incoming tasks on handler dashboards to proactively identify cases that need immediate attention or a prioritised response
- Liaise with members, external panel and other third parties to obtain information at the outset of a new matter; carry out conflict checks with panel firms; and prepare standard letters for the instruction of panel, confirming assistance to members and to comply with applicable Pre-action protocols/statutory requirements.
- Prepare attendance notes following meetings and video conferences with members and stakeholders.
- Review medical records, claims notifications and other relevant documents
- Work closely with claims managers to triage all new claims
- Supporting clinical/legal reviews with internal clinical colleagues
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a student who is keen to take a year in industry. You will have an interest in Clinical Negligence / Medical Malpractice and most importantly, we are looking for someone who is keen to learn, enthusiastic and ambitious.
