Are you a commercially minded leader with a strong understanding of the healthcare sector and a passion for building high-performing teams? We are looking for a talented individual to lead our UK medical business development activity, driving member acquisition, engagement and retention while delivering against ambitious growth objectives.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development for the UK, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering our sales and engagement strategy for the medical market. Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across the business, you will translate market insight into commercial action, ensuring our propositions, member experience and go-to-market activity meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient and influential leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will lead and develop a talented team, build strong relationships with key healthcare stakeholders, and help ensure we continue to strengthen our position within the UK healthcare market.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the UK medical business development strategy to deliver growth, retention and engagement objectives.
  • Inspire, coach and develop a team of business development professionals, creating a high-performance culture focused on member outcomes and commercial success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare stakeholders, including consultants, clinical leaders, hospitals, training organisations and industry partners.
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic insight to influence commercial planning, proposition development and business decision-making.
  • Drive member acquisition, retention and engagement activity, ensuring delivery against agreed income, membership and performance targets.
  • Work cross-functionally to support the launch and roll-out of products, services and member propositions across the UK market.
  • Monitor competitor activity, healthcare trends and market developments, identifying opportunities to enhance commercial performance and member value.
  • Ensure effective budget management, risk identification and governance compliance across all business development activity.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant business development, sales or commercial leadership experience within healthcare, healthcare services, pharmaceutical, medical membership, indemnity or related sectors.
  • Strong leadership experience with a proven track record of building, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable engaging and influencing senior healthcare stakeholders, including consultants, clinicians and hospital decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated success delivering growth, retention and commercial performance targets within a complex organisation.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to maintain momentum and focus during periods of challenge or changing business performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret market insights, identify opportunities and translate strategy into action.
  • Degree educated (or equivalent) with experience operating in a regulated, financial services, insurance or healthcare environment desirable.

This is an opportunity to lead a strategically important area of the business during an exciting period of growth. You'll have the chance to influence commercial strategy, work with respected healthcare stakeholders, develop talented teams and make a meaningful impact on the success of our organisation and the members we support.
