Business Analyst

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Continuous Improvement and Change team based in Leeds!

We are looking to hire a highly driven Business Analyst to support Medical Protection Society in achieving their change agenda. We are looking for a Business Analyst who can work to investigate business problems and opportunities, and specify required changes to business processes, people skills, information, technology and organisation structures and roles. You'll select, apply and monitor the use of modelling and analysis techniques, methods and standards in an informed and proficient way.  Work effectively with business and IT stakeholders, conducting investigations at a strategic level and assuring the feasibility of proposed solutions. You’ll take a holistic view of the business situations investigated, ensure that stakeholder perspectives are identified and analysed with a view to achieving consensus, so that business objectives and requirements are understood and provide a context with which recommended solutions are aligned.

The Continuous Improvement and Change team operate on a hybrid working basis. Team members tend to come on-site roughly once per week, but may be required to attend more frequently throughout the year to help deliver face-to-face workshops.

Role Responsibility

  • Working effectively with business and IT stakeholders, conducting investigations at a strategic level and assuring the feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Advising stakeholders on business change priorities within the context of the organisational strategy and objectives
  • Utilising business knowledge and experience to assess and advise on the feasibility and relevance of proposed options for business and technical change
  • Following detailed specification and modelling of holistic solutions using standards, methods and techniques as required. You'll maintain links with colleagues within related disciplines such as business operations, software engineering and service delivery functions and support the deployment of business and technical changes
  • Using your skills to plan, arrange and facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders throughout the business change and software development lifecycles, taking responsibility for the management of stakeholder relationships across different levels of seniority
  • Supporting business case development through the identification and definition of business and technical options that will address the business objectives and requirements, and the analysis of the costs, benefits, risks and impacts for each option
  • Assisting business stakeholders in defining acceptance tests for new business processes and IT systems and take responsibility for the effective execution of the acceptance tests.
  • Proactiveness in your development of yourself. Providing a positive attitude and supporting the department to be successful.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills that help motivate and engage
  • Effective collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Experience of and a passion for managing and delivering change
  • Experience of project delivery utilising waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Ability to work across all levels of the organisation
  • Flexible and adaptable and be prepared to accept that no 2 days may be the same and at times must navigate through conflicting priorities
  • Ability to have difficult conversations and be able to effectively challenge and influence colleagues across all levels of the business
  • Resilience and drive  
  • Experience of working with governance and process
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking
