Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Tax Accountant to join our Finance division based in Leeds!

As our new Assistant Tax Accountant, you will play an active role in providing comprehensive support to both the Group Tax Manager and to the Treasury team, covering various aspects of the day-to-day tax compliance activities for the whole MPS Group across the globe.

As MPS colleagues are spread across the globe, we utilise technology to facilitate our activities with occasional travel to our office in London. Our Finance team are based in Leeds and tend to be on-site at least once or twice a week, depending on the needs of the business, but our office is open Monday to Friday should you wish to come in more often.

Role Responsibility

• Prepare and file the VAT/GST returns
• Supporting the Group Tax Manager with Corporation Tax returns
• Support the Group Tax Manager with external and internal audit queries
• Monitor emerging Tax based risks/controls/issues arising from business activities
• Liaise closely with key stakeholders both internal and external including HMRC and other 3^rd parties
• Ensure the financial control environment is being maintained at all times

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience of producing Tax compliance activities, including the ability to carry out reconciliations including identifying and resolving the resulting queries
• Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
• Strong analytical and inter-personal skills
• Experience producing year-end tax packs (desirable, not essential)
• Qualified or studying towards a Finance based qualification
